The EDAM Group, a leading provider of unrivalled post-accident management services, proudly announces its decision to join the ‘Code of Conduct’ initiative for the development, implementation, and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in insurance claims.

This groundbreaking code of conduct, spearheaded by Eddie Longworth, Director of JEL Consulting, brings 127 experts together to establish and uphold the highest standards of behaviour and ethical responsibility in AI utilisation within the insurance industry.

The Code will focus on 10 key issues facing the AI industry, namely: safety, security, robustness, transparency, explainability, fairness, accountability, governance, contestability, and redress.

EDAM believes in aligning its operations with the best practices outlined in the code to ensure a customer-centric approach that places the wants and needs of clients at the forefront.

The EDAM Group recognises the transformative potential of AI in insurance claims management and believes that ethical considerations must be at the core of these advancements. By joining the ‘Code of Conduct’ initiative, EDAM is taking a proactive step towards fostering responsible AI practices that prioritise customer satisfaction, trust, and ethical conduct.

Simon Gallimore, CEO of the EDAM Group, expressed enthusiasm about the decision, saying:

At EDAM, we have always been dedicated to putting our customers first. Joining the ‘Code of Conduct’ initiative is a natural extension of our commitment to ethical and customer-centric business practices. We believe that this initiative will not only elevate the standards within our industry but also enhance the trust and confidence our clients place in us.

A key component of the code involves governance mechanisms to define and manage compliance when designing and implementing claims management systems and processes, ensuring that decisions and subsequent actions involving AI in claims are not only recorded and audited, but are also ethically justifiable.

EDAM looks forward to actively contributing to the ‘Code of Conduct’ initiative, collaborating with industry experts, and collectively shaping a future where AI in insurance claims management adheres to the highest ethical standards.
