LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, Insurance Champions the Women Forging Innovation Through Technology on International Women’s Day 8th March, 2022

LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, Insurance, U.K and Ireland fully supports International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022 and its mission to celebrate digital advancement and champion the women forging innovation through technology. 1

As a business that is advancing data, analytics and technology in the insurance market and one that has strived to achieve gender balance in its leadership team, LexisNexis Risk Solutions will be taking the opportunity to profile a selection of its female leaders leading up to the day, working within its data science, product, legal and marketing teams.

Jeffrey Skelton, managing director for Europe, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Insurance, said:

International Women’s Day’s focus on women in technology is a great opportunity to showcase the talent we have in our business and hopefully inspire other women to seek out roles in insurance data, analytics and technology.

The insurance industry recognises it has a diversity and inclusivity challenge which it is working hard to solve – not least because insurance supports nearly all parts of society. If the people trusted to design and deliver insurance products and services better reflect the demographic of their customers and think as end-users, they are far more likely to find ways to innovate and deliver something of real value.

Also, from a gender balance perspective, as the father of two daughters, I am passionate about ensuring women are offered the same opportunities to fully utilise their skills as men.

As soon as I got into a position to make a difference I looked at the business’s recruitment process to try to understand why very few women were applying for roles. I also talked to female leaders in the industry to ask their advice. Following that advice, we made some simple adjustments to the way we advertised positions and made them much less prescriptive. This changed the complexion of the people applying for roles and in three years, the majority of new people were female and a quarter of the leadership team were female.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions now has female leadership groups within the organisation that are playing a key role in attracting women to the business.

Jeffrey Skelton concludes:

I am really proud of how far we have come in achieving a greater gender balance in our business.  We are by no means perfect, but we have made fantastic progress and I know we’re not the only ones making this positive change in the insurance and technology markets.
